Chris Grant

Chris Grant is best known as a former National Hunt jockey but now enjoys a career training racehorses. Chris and his team are based near Wolviston village at the picturesque Low Burntoft farm in the North East of England. Chris specialises in training National Hunt horses having had a prolific career over fences himself, but also enjoys training flat horses.

Chris began training following his retirement as a jockey and along with his wife Sue, a former point to point jockey, started by breaking in thoroughbreds at their yard, one of those horses was to become Chris`s first training success, known later as Bobby Grant. Since then the yard has continued to grow in strength and numbers thanks to the dedication of staff, owners and of course Chris and Sue themselves.

Rubin Star N
The Oldenburg, Premium Hssen and British Warmblood Stallion, Rubin Star N is the only approved stallion standing in the UK by the great Rubinstein I so sort after and influential in dressage breeding today.

He is also noted to be the only stallion standing in Britain to have successfully won his 100 day performance test with amazingly high marks in both dressage and the show jumping sections.. He scored extremely highly though out the test with the judges awarding ultimate 10’s for his temperament and willingness to learn - a quality his great sire Rubinstein is famous for passing.

Rubin Star N, a successful performance horse himself has competed at Intermediate 1 level dressage, and was finalist in the Bundeschampionat final in Warendorf 1997. At the DHV Stallion Tournament in Euskirchen, he was series winner and most successful dressage stallion of his age group. His training has now reached Grand Prix level.

He is known to produce well proportioned, elegant foals, with athletic loose paces, suitable to both disciplines. He also passes primarily dark coats, and above all Rubinstein’s fabulous trainable temperament.

His eldest progeny now compete at medium level in both disciplines. As a 6 year old, his daughter, Rossini became 2003 Dressage Champion at Nordlingen, and at the age of 8 began competing at Grand Prix level.

Rubin star N also has an approved stallion son “Rock Star”, a premium approved stallion in Hessen (see picture below)

The progeny of Rubin Star N have been sold world-wide and have achieved very high prices at auction.

Pedigree His dam the ‘Staats Premien Stute’ Carella, is by the well known stallion Ramino. Ramino was famous for his victory, no less than 5 times as national show jumping champion in Italy. He was also stallion performance test winner in Adelheidsdorf during 1983. Ramino produced a number of other famous stallion dams, for example the dam of the outstanding dressage stallion, Sandro Hit. Ramino`s sire, Ramiro has been very influential and dominant in the breeding of many top show jumping pedigrees and is very sought after.

Weltmeister, also a feature of carellas breeding line, is famous for producing top competition horses and top stallions including Welt As and Westminster.

Carella also produced another highly successful licenced son, the Grand prix dressage stallion, Magic Ronaldo, (click here for details of Magic Ronaldo)currently competing and standing in Holland. Three full sisters of Rubin Star N have been awarded the prestigious ‘Staats Premie’ title.
